PUBLIC INFORMATION AND EDUCATION
The Washakie County Conservation District (WCCD) emphasizes the importance of public information and education to raise awareness and foster understanding about natural resource issues. The goal is to keep the public informed and engaged in dynamic, evolving conversations about the environment and land stewardship. Through these efforts, WCCD aims to educate the rising generation and equip both the general public and decision-makers with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about conservation and sustainable land use.
- Promotion of Agricultural and Conservation Education: WCCD partners with public schools, home schools, as well as youth and community organizations to ensure that children and young people receive education on natural resource conservation and gain an appreciation for the wonders Wyoming has to offer. WCCD focuses on responsible use of resources in agriculture, minerals and energy, and outdoor recreation. Educational programs are diverse and can be tailored to the needs of educators to meet learning standards and applicable topics. Modes of delivery include in class presentations, fieldtrips, hands on experiences and a lending library. - Public Education: The district provides information to the general public on various topics related to natural resources including: policy impacts on land use, state wide events, current and seasonal topics of interest. We do so through hosting local educational events such as Grow Washakie, special events at our Outdoor Classroom and The Quarterly Beet Newsletter. - Support for Viable Agriculture: WCCD promotes sustainable farming and ranching practices, as well as business opportunities that align with environmental conservation. WCCD staff attends conferences and workshops to bring expertise to Washakie County and support producers in executing best practices.

- Recognition of Conservation Success Stories: WCCD highlights successful conservation and agricultural efforts through district programs and local media to celebrate achievements within the community.
- Promotion of Best Management Practices (BMPs): The district actively encourages the development and application of BMPs for sustainable resource management.
- Communication with Government Officials: WCCD provides information and education to elected officials and decision-makers about conservation issues, helping them understand the impacts of policies and initiatives on natural resource management and landowners.
